The hunt is located at the Corcoran Park & Ball Fields, 20200 County Rd 50 (same location as Corcoran Country Daze – the ball fields off Cty. Rd 50, not the playground off Cty Rd 10) This was a new location last year. See you there!

Join us in 2012

Details at http://countrydaze.org/

This year Corcoran Country Daze promises to be another great one! Come to the 9th Annual Corcoran Country Daze August 17th & 18th for food, music and family fun! Family DaySaturday is free and fun for all! Pony rides, emergency vehicles display, rock climbing wall, craft show, helicopter rides, a benefit volleyball tournament, Memorial Blood Centers Blood Drive and more. Check back closer to the event date for updated details, forms and info. Thanks for stopping by our website and hope we see you in August!

Proceeds from the event go back to the community through the donations, scholarships and many events the NW Area Jaycees (formerly the Corcoran Area Jaycees) put on each year. Corcoran Country Daze is held rain or shine under the big tent at the Corcoran Park & Ball Fields. We look forward to seeing you!

History

What all started as talk about how nice it would be to have something to bring the community of Corcoran together, has now become an event to look forward to at the end of summer! Corcoran Country Daze is a place where families can come for affordable and free entertainment; a softball tournament and city-wide festival to celebrate the country roots of the Corcoran area and unify the community. The NW Area Jaycees (Jaycees), then known as the Corcoran Area Jaycees, brought the idea to the City of Corcoran in 2004. With their support and that of the Corcoran Police Department and many area businesses, Corcoran Country Daze was born and has become something to celebrate our great rural, yet suburban community. We’ve welcomed such acts to the big stage as, Chace Roberts, Jonah and the Whales and the Killer Hayseeds. Many other local bands have come to provide free music to the community. Our food stands and vendors serve great food along with many other tasty treats and beverages. Walking down “Country Road” visitors see the many vendors, police/fire/rescue displays and kid’s activities that are part of the Family Day event Saturday. From the free rock climbing wall to the build-a-bird-house, from the moon bounce to the tractor displays – there’s something for everyone! Other activities range from hay rides and trauma helicopter fly-ins to Wild West demonstrations and craft shows. The best part is, all proceeds go back to the surrounding communities through the many events the NW Area Jaycees support, including hardship donations, children’s events, scholarships, food shelf donations etc. We hope you’ll come be a part of the fun and perhaps be inspired to get involved in some way! Thanks for checking out our site. Hope to see you at Corcoran Country Daze!

The Need for Young Leaders is Timeless…

For the past 78 years, Jaycees have been a force for good in Minnesota, around the country, and around the world. Jaycees helped establish AirMail services in America with Jaycee member Charles Lindbergh, and have raised millions of dollars for causes such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, March of Dimes, AIDS prevention, and cancer research. They have built parks, playgrounds, hospitals, ball fields, and housing for the elderly while conducting service and support programs in thousands of communities nationwide. Many important civic leaders in Minnesota attribute their development as a leader to their time in the Jaycees, including Senator Dave Durenburger, Senator Rudy Boschwitz, Chief Justice Warren Burger, Vice President Walter Mondale, and Vice President Hubert Humphrey.

The Jaycees are a part of the beginnings of our volunteer and nonprofit sector in communities across the country- throughout history Jaycees were often the first responders to natural disasters, the first stop for neighborly assistance, and in many towns are a central organizing entity for many community development efforts. As an all-volunteer organization, its roots remain close to the communities its chapters serve. All-volunteer organizations present unique opportunities for grassroots action with significant community impact.
